The Dangers of Hiring the Wrong SEO Specialist

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

Not following by the rules can have a site not rank, or even worse, get banned from the index for months or even years! Just one bad link can do this, just one “trick” on your website designed to lie to the search engines or too much link popularity too quickly.

Even if these scenarios don’t take place, the saddest thing of all is wasting good money and not making more money from the rankings you deserve.

How do you pick a good search engine specialist?

A good search optimization specialist will do some serious research before they get started. They know that 3 and 4 word phrases are twice as likely to buy and they’ll produce a report for you for free showing you which words they’ll target first, and why they chose them.

They should also, optimize each page for those targeted words in the code, the body and in strategic places before doing any link building. They’ll setup some kind of tracking, analytics and measuring to show real results and the direct benefits of their services.

Search specialists that have been in business for a long time can easily show you previous track record, clients ranking for good terms and increases to those client’s sales online.

What kinds of questions should you ask them before doing business?

What kind of rankings have you achieved with your other clients? How much traffic did your clients see from those results? Why have you picked these phrases? What kind of research has been done to ensure these are the right decisions? How will you show me that your efforts have brought me new business? Is there any kind of guarantee, if I don’t see new customers or rankings?

Website Assessment Criteria - Indexation

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

Indexation is one of the most important website assessment criteria that should be checked and improved for better site performance. It’s via search engines that you can find out about this website assessment criteria and see your indexation.

Indexation Discovery of a Website

To find out how large your indexation is, you can go to major search engines, Google, Yahoo and MSN and type: site:www.YourWebsite dot com. The result will be all the pages indexed at each of those search engines.

Indexation in Search Engines

Indexation is a process done by search engines to record the presence of websites on the Internet and some of their details like title, description and a link. This website assessment criteria cannot be attended to without referring to search engines. They constantly crawl the web to index new pages as well as the changes in the pages already indexed.

The first step to promote a website is to make sure your site has gone through indexation process by search engines, specially by the major ones like Google, Yahoo and MSN. If you’ve submitted your website successfully to search engines, they should have indexed your web pages.

Indexation as a Major Website Assessment Criteria

The more pages of a web site are indexed by search engines, the better indexation it has compared to its competitors. In other words, each result at Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs) contains a link to that website and each link will count.

By this website assessment criteria, you will also learn about your competitor’s performance. You will know how well your competitors’ websites are doing in the eyes of major search engines.

Therefore, when you evaluate this aspect of the competitor’s performance, you may wonder how they could have such extensive indexation. The answer is “rich content” that makes a sizeable site (consisting of many pages) with lots of information for its visitors. So, it can make both visitors happy and search engines indexation enriched.

Note: Let’s not forget that websites using illegitimate methods could be removed from search engines’ indexes even if they’ve already been recorded by them. A thorough website assessment could reveal such techniques, tricks, on websites.

What about Directories?

During checking your competitors’ indexation at search engines, you’ll probably come across several links coming from directories. Directories are also as important as search engines.

The more links from directories you get, the better you’ve satisfied website assessment criteria. Of course, it’s always ideal to be first listed by major directories like Yahoo and Open Directory (DMOZ). Having been indexed there, you could automatically be listed at other directories!

Before submitting your own website to directories, make sure you’ve professionally controlled the quality of your site. Directories have the personnel who look at websites before approving and accepting them. I’m sure you don’t want to be rejected by them for little unimportant deficiencies at your website!

When it comes to competition, you’ll have to catch up with them in terms of number of links from directories and even surpass them.

Better Indexation Condition

To improve indexation as one of the major website assessment criteria, you’ll have to add more information (web pages) to your website. What you can do is to add the following items to your site:

* A section for articles,

* A glossary for your field of expertise,

* photo gallery,

* A directory of various resources,

* A set of freebies like whitepapers, guidelines, etc,

* A set of downloadable files or softwares,

* A set of links to similar websites all across the world,

* And so forth.

Of course, the main purpose of adding more information is to add value to your site. You should consider the needs of your visitors. Needless to say, more pages and more indexation are the natural consequence of quenching the website assessment criteria.

Indexation Is Limited

Search engines cannot index certain pages like those having forms, passwords or registration in them. In addition to this fact, search engines may and may not index all your pages. So, if you want all your web pages or at least some of them to be definitely indexed, make sure you submit them separately yourself. If there are web pages on your website that aren’t linked from other websites, don’t expect search engines to index them.

There shouldn’t be orphan pages on your website. They’re the pages to which none of your website’s pages have posted a link. You must not have those pages on your site. It’s highly recommended to find those pages and do something about them:

* Have a page adopt them, or

* Delete them from your server.

Then, submit them to search engines.

As you can see, without replying positively to this website assessment criteria, a major part of your efforts will be in vain no matter how well you design your website or master your profession.

Content is King For SEO

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

In order to optimize your website you need to keep feeding it with fresh and relevant and original text regularly. Frequently updating your website and feeding it with text content, increases the frequency with which the search engine spiders visit and crawl over your website. This greatly improves your page ranking. But if you do not update your web contents regularly, then such stagnation will keep the spiders away from your website as a result of which your page ranking drops drastically.

However, not all kinds of websites have got fresh text matter to feed to their websites regularly, especially company websites that rarely have any new text contents to add to their websites and update their content regularly. Such websites can make use of RSS feeds to solve the problem of stagnated web content. For other websites, there are numerous options for feeding fresh text regularly. These options include -regularly adding new articles and other topical information to your website, adding weekly, fortnightly, monthly or bimonthly newsletters and e-bulletins to your website, providing the scope for adding testimonials, reviews and comments for your website, adding new blog posts, and several other copywriting strategies.

The content of your website must be of some practical value for the visitors and contain relevant, useful and original content that the visitors would want to read and come back for again and again. Using duplicate content or promotional material like advertisements and brochures on your website I not considered as web content in the ideal context and will not fetch you any SEO results with any of the search engines.

Ensure that the content you provide for your website is not plagiarized, stolen or copied and pasted from some other website. If it is so, then your web content will be labeled as “duplicate content” by all the search engines and your website can be excluded from the indexing of search engines. What you can do to avoid this problem is that when you source any information from other websites, you can change the text of material available in their public domain to a considerable extent and then use it in your own website. Even in the case of product descriptions (which ought to be maintained the same in the websites of the manufacturers as well as the dealers), what you can do is that you can add exclusive comments or reviews about the product on the same page in order to escape being labeled as “duplicate content” by the search engines.

In spite of providing excellent web content on all your web pages, if your page ranking still does not improve, then there must be some unidentified SEO problems that you resolve in order to enhance your site’s optimization.

The best option is to approach a reliable SEO company or linking services such as LinkVana, which can identify the problem and fix them for you, in addition to providing fresh, original and relevant web content for your website. There are a large number of LinkVana Reviews that indicate the efficiency with which this service improves the page rankings of your website in different search engines.

Finding link building a REAL headache? Let the Linkvana link building service do the work for you. You can’t go wrong with high-quality one-way links!

Search Engine Optimisation Services Specialist Discusses Website SEO Part 4

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

The Google search engine is always changing and so you need to continue testing to keep up with the changes that will affect your search engine optimisation process. If you are a professional SEO services specialist and your Client’s product is constantly changing then you need to inform your Client to stick to one product initially. Then design your campaign for that client to be more “horizontal” to capture more keyword areas, incorporating the other products of your Client.

Keep in mind that you can create many pages on your website other than your main page. Use all the pages that you create on your website to brand your name. Do some of your own testing and configure each webpage effectively from a search engine optimisation perspective and place that information out onto the internet by hand submitting your website’s url to the Google search engine.

If you configure your website and the related pages properly you will get first page rankings on the Google search engine. Let us touch on the subject of Press Releases. Join a professional, long standing reputable free press release company. As mentioned before, the power of say forty press releases written and placed on the Google search engine for ’spidering’ is immensely powerful. Produce forty good effective keyword specific press releases about your business opportunity not forgetting to include your website url and that is basically all that you would need to do.

Why, because each post submission whether it is a blog, forum, article or press release creates its own unique url or link. You hand submit every single link you create all the time to the Google search engine. What does this do? It builds links pointing to and promoting and talking about your website. The Google search engine spider loves this and it satisfies an important ingredient of effective and successful search engine optimisation which is building links that point to your website.

SEO Tips: Link Building

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

This article is a follow-up to an article I wrote about On-Page Optimization . On-Page optimization enables each of your web pages to make the most out of the mojo that they have — but you need inbound links to create that mojo in the first place.

I use the term “mojo” as a generic descriptor for the importance given to a web page or a web site based upon inbound links. Similar terms include page rank, site rank, trust rank, and authority. Those terms tend to carry too much linguistic baggage, so I use the term “mojo” for simplicity unless another term is specifically required.

Mojo is created by getting inbound links to your web site and to your web pages.

Getting inbound links is one of the most important, and time consuming, tasks involved in SEO.

Here are a few tips to generate inbound links. Each of these tips are appropriate for some web sites, but none are appropriate for all web sites. Select the link building strategies which are most appropriate for your specific web site.

Submit to Web Directories

Start with big slow directories like the Yahoo Directory and the DMOZ Open Directory Project, but don’t stop there.

Search out the small directories which are dedicated to topics relevant to your web site.

For more suggestions on finding directories to submit to, read How can I find web directories?

Reciprocal Linking

Write individual e-mails to specific webmasters whose web pages compliment your own and tell them that you would like to trade links with them.

Make sure to personalize each e-mail, or your e-mails will be quickly deleted as spam.

To achieve the best results from your e-mail, include the following in your initial e-mail:

* Mention two positive items about their web site, so that they know that your e-mail is not a generic spam.

* Include directions to the specific web page where you have added the link to their web site.

* Mention the Page Rank of the page where you have added a link to their web site.

These web sites exist to help you search for reciprocal link partners in the same market niche’ as your web site:

* Find Link Partners

* Link Partner Finder

* Themes Reciprocal Link Finder

Write Articles for Other Web Sites

One method for getting inbound links is to write quality articles and submit them to other web sites for publication.

Each article should include a link back to your web site.

These links are better than links from link pages, because there tend to be very few outbound links on the article page.

Write a brief article on some topic related to the topic of your web site. Do not write an article about your web site, but write an article that would be interesting to people who would also be interested in your web site.

Send this article to webmasters who maintain web sites on topics similar to the topic of your article. Explain to them that they can post your article for free on their web sites, in return for a link to your web site.

To find web sites to submit articles for publication, visit Where can I submit an article for publication?

Create and Submit Press Releases

Write press releases about your web site and submit them to press release distribution services.

To find places to submit press releases for publication, visit Where can I submit my press release?

Join a Reciprocal Link Program

Reciprocal linking programs exist to help webmasters share links with similar web sites.

Some of the reciprocal link programs are:

* Link Market

* Info Wizards

* LinkExchanged

* Link Partners

* Links-Pal

* Linkateer

* Webmaster Link Exchange

* GoTop Link Exchange ($19.95 fee to join)

* LinkLeads

* Link Traders

* LinkExchangeIt

* SiteSell

* 123ExchangeLinks

* Ads4Links

* Spocka

* Links For You

If you have a blog, try blogLinker, the automatic link swapper for blogs.

These link networks can generate a lot of e-mail. You will probably want to create a new e-mail account just for these networks.

Join the DigitalPoint Ad Network

The DigitalPoint Coop Advertising Network enables you to automatically trade links with thousands of web sites across the Internet.

Join a Reciprocal Linking Forum

Several web forums exist for the purpose of sharing and trading reciprocal links. These linking forums include:

LinkRequests
Link Trade Forum

Start a Reciprocal Linking Program on Your Web Site

You can also setup a reciprocal linking program on your own web site.

For more information on setting up a reciprocal linking program on your site, read How can I add a reciprocal link manager to my web site?

Start or Join a Web Ring

You can use an existing web ring service such as WebRing, or you can create your own web ring using the PHP-Ring webring script.

Join or Create a Top Site List

Search for top site lists which are relevant to your web site.

Add yourself to the existing lists. If no relevant top site lists exist, create one.

Provide a Useful Service

Create dynamic content on your web site which other web masters can include on their web sites by linking to it.

Every webmaster who uses your content automatically adds a link to your site.

Firearm News is an excellent example of this. If you add a small bit of JavaScript to your web page, your users will receive up-to-date news on firearms.

Of course, you will also have to contact other webmasters to let them know about your service — perhaps even with a press release.

Buy Links

If all else fails, you can always buy links to your web site.

Search Engine Optimization - Tips and Tricks

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving natural or organic traffic volume and quality traffic to a website from search engines for targeted keywords. Search engine optimization considers what people search for, and concentrates on the same. It’s just called a ‘’search term” for those who search, but it’s called as ”keyword” for those who knew search engine optimization. A website owner will be more then aware of what a keyword is and what it can do to his site… If someone doesn’t know what a keyword is but still have a website, they might not need their website a rank in search engines with any keyword, but just a normal web existence!!

Talking generally, enabling a site to a search engine is also called as search engine optimization. For the algorithmic search results, major search engines use crawlers. They visit your pages and will see what content you have on the page, and what keywords, title are used on the page. Distance of pages from the root directory of a site may also be a factor in whether or not pages get crawled. According to the data captured by them; the results are shown in the search engines when specific keywords are used by the search engine users!! It’s mandatory to have your keywords in the content of the page to get the better results in search engine result pages. Getting not deeper into the algorithms of how the crawlers observe the keywords in the content, just add the keywords!!

The website owners attract to black hat seo, especially when their site rely on traffic. But, they never knew the fact that they are no more going to get traffic from search engines in a short period. Avoiding black hat techniques is strongly recommended by any professional SEO Experts.
There are many SEO firms which may attract you by promising fast results… yes, they keep up their promise. But please be very specific and conscious about what they do, and what you require. It’s going to be a tough job for you to recover from the loss they may cause you in case you did not choose the right SEO expert.

A technique is considered as white Hat SEO, when it follows the guidelines of search engines… Of course, there are no said rules for the search engine optimization, but still we have few guidelines. White Hat SEO ensures that the content a search engine indexes and ranks is the same content a user will see. If not, its not an organic SEO which any search engine may not love to show on the search engine result pages. Outsourcing SEO of a website may be a wise decision if you find the right optimizer who can change your existence in the search engines.

Depending on the site operator’s goals, SEO is not necessarily an appropriate strategy for every website, but other Internet marketing strategies may be more effective. Getting help of not just an SEO, but other organic Internet marketing strategies might also work for you for better promoting your site, and revenue. It’s a possible task to get help of both, SEM and SEO experts at one place.

Meta Tags - Misused and Misunderstood SEO Elements

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

So, you stormed down to the internet office demanding an explanation as to why your brand new, beautiful website hasn’t been Googled and all you got from those useless techies down there was some incomprehensible jargon that was no help at all. And forget trying to explain things to Martha. You have about as much chance of that as a snowball in hell. All you can do is shrug when she finally asks in exasperation, “Well, where do we find this meta tank with all those keywords, anyway?”

Search engines use meta tags to gather information about your website. They are contained in the HEAD section of your HTML code. Generally speaking, once you decide upon a set of keywords that are relevant to your content, the next step is to integrate them into both your meta tags and the body of your website. Relating to keywords, the meta tags have three significant components: the title, the meta keywords and the meta description. When matching a phrase, search engines attempt to find it first within the meta tags of the sites indexed within their databases. Simply put, think of meta tags as a way to “flag” your web pages for the search engines.

Your web page title, strictly speaking, is not a meta tag. However, the title is the most important component of all. Make sure that your best keyword phrase is placed within the title. It’s like putting your best foot forward. The meta keywords and the meta description are ranked next and both carry very little weight in terms of ranking. That being said, some search engines still give some value to them and it takes very little time to add your best keyword phrases there as well.

This was not always the case and once upon a time it was possible to rank well with search engines simply by making sure that your desired keywords were repeated over and over again in the meta tags of your web page. Those days are long gone however and this kind of keyword stuffing eventually backfired. Regarded as spamming and black hat SEO, it led to the deprecation of the keywords meta tag to the point where today it is all but ignored by the major search engines.

The meta description tag, as well, has been relegated to the dustbin as far as rankings go, but don’t ignore it entirely — it still has another use. When your page finally does show up in the search results, very often the meta description is used to provide part of the descriptive text below the text that forms the link to your website. By reinforcing the meta description with your best keyword phrase, it may be possible to influence the decision of a searcher to actually click through to your listing rather than others on the same page. Search engines tend to highlight in some way (usually through bolding) the keyword or combination of keywords associated with the search string. Test this for yourself by typing any keyword search phrase into Google and examine the results. Look for highlighted text.

MetaTags and Character Length

You can make these tags as long as you want (within reason) but the search engines will only give value to the first so many characters. Google likes you to limit the title tag to approximately 60 - 65 characters, while other engines recognize between 72 and 150 characters. Meta keywords and meta descriptions should generally be limited to between 150 and 250 characters. These limitations are based on search engine guidelines that clearly indicate that you need to tell them what your site is all about right from the beginning. Once again, it requires putting your best foot forward. Your first keywords are given more value than your last keywords in both your content and in your met tags. Another suggestion to keep in mind is to avoid keyword stuffing in your meta tags — try not to repeat a keyword more than three times per tag. And one last note regarding character count — spaces count!

Selecting a Niche Using 3 Google Search Commands

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

Ok, you’re ready to start selling something! Great. Now, let’s make sure we aren’t competing against too many other sites. First things first. We need to select a keyword phrase. A keyword phrase is what search engine users will type into the search engine when looking for a product or service.

Since most web users use the Google Search engine I will be discussing Google commands. To gauge the number of competing sites in our niche we will perform a Google search using our phrase in quotes. An example would be “garmin nuvi gps navigation”.

Ok, our results should be under 50,000. Anything more makes SEO optimization a bit difficult. This gives a general overview of the competition on the internet for that phrase.

Next, we will see how many websites have the phrase in their pages title tag. Let’s go to Google.com and search for: allintitle:”garmin nuvi gps navigation”

Here, we’re looking for a total result of 5000 or less (less is better). At this current time there are 324 websites that have specifically designed pages to fit that phrase. That, my friends is your true competition. Your SEO and website needs to be better that those results.

The final Google command that we will be discussing is allinanchor. First, what is anchor text. Anchor text is the visible link text in a url.

The anchor text (or visible text) would be: Garmin Nuvi GPS navigation, not my website name. Anchor text should be very keyword rich and if often one of the best ways to achieve an increased SERP. Instead of choosing example.org as my anchor text I have instead chosen a keyword rich anchor text (like Garmin Nuvi GPS navigation).

When searching for allinanchor:”my niche phrase” your results should be 5000 or less (the lower the better). The final Google command to use when searching for a niche is allinurl:”my niche phrase”. Allinurl is just as important as allintitle. Allinurl results means that your competition has designed and named a page around your niche phrase. An example would be www(dot)exampledomain(dot)org/examplepage(dot)htm

We need to make sure that there are a very low number of results returned. In this case 1000 or less will do (less is better).

So, those are the 3 Google commands I use to help me select a prospective niche. I hope this article makes sense and helps you find prospective niches.

I write about SEO Tips at myseonotes.com.

The example website: Garmin GPS was selected as my example

Search Engine Optimization For Beginners - Optimization is Important

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

Search engine optimization is simply the term used to describe the process of proactively working to have your website show up for a certain keyword phrase when someone does a search online.

The idea is to bring those searchers to your website because they are the group of people that are most interested in your product or service online. The first thing to consider when you want to begin search engine optimization is to ask yourself, what “keyword phrase” do I want my website to show up on the first page of the search engines when someone does a search online.

Once you have picked out this search term you want to include this term in the “title tag” of your webpage. The title tag simply tells search engines what the title of that webpage is so that it helps to index your webpage. Most programs that you will use to design your website will tell you where to enter the title tag when designing your website. If you are having a professional do it for you then you want to tell them the title tag you want to use.

Once you have finished with the title tag the next thing would be the description of the webpage, you want to make sure this is relevant and has keywords that are related or help describe your title tag.

The next very important component of your website would be content, your content is what search engine users are after when they search using the engines. The big players in search know this so you must provide unique content preferable on a regular basis to rank well with the search engines.

Search Engine Optimisation: One Link is Better than Ten

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

That can’t be right! Shouldn’t ten links be better than one? It is usually the case where more is better. However, when it comes to gaining links, having more links isn’t necessarily better than having a few good links. In fact, having too many irrelevant links could possibly harm your website’s visibility within the search engines.

These days, search engines are placing more emphasis on incoming links to a website when evaluating rank. The reason being is because they are difficult to obtain from trusted sources (a “by the book” website such as the Dmoz directory) and it is a good way to partially eliminate the group of people who abuse the “on the page” factors of optimisation (page spamming). How is this so? Well, if you have someone who is abusing the “on the page” factors and they have no trusted links to their page (they will most likely not get any at all due to spam) then there is no chance of them getting a good listing. However, people have worked out ways in getting a large number of links, through link farms and other tactics, regardless of the quality of their website. As the search engines are aware of this, it brings us to the topic of how one link can be better than ten.

Obtaining one link from a trusted source can be very difficult in the sense that they do not issue links to just about anyone. If you have a good website with relevant information, then you will get them. It is for this reason one link from a trusted source can better a multiple of links from other websites. As a trusted source website is “trusted” by search engines, it will also trust the websites it links to. If you have ten links from your best friends, it will help you in some sense, but no where near as much as the one link from a source like Dmoz, unless one of your friends has a very reputable website amongst the search engines.

Having too many irrelevant links could harm your website’s visibility in the search engines. What is meant by this is having links from websites that have no relation to yours. An example of this would be a site about cars linking to another site about medicine (unless the sites are reputable and have a good reason for the link i.e. there is a relationship made between cars and medicine). Search engines will pick up on this sort of link and will give it no weight in boosting your visibility. Obtain many of these irrelevant links, then it could be seen as spam (like a link farm tactic) and that will lower the popularity of your website within search engines.

The key here is to focus on quality and not quantity. Gaining a few good / relevant links will take you much further than a lot of irrelevant links. To get these quality links, start off by placing your website in directories, but be sure to avoid any “on the page” spamming as this will not get you accepted. Once search engines have acknowledged a presence of relevant links, follow up on it and research some ways to obtain more. As time passes, you will notice that your website’s performance will increase, as the links age, provided you have carried out search engine optimisation. Avoid obtaining the irrelevant links even though it may be tempting to see fast results. It will only be a matter of time before a search engine realises the spam tactic, and as the saying goes “fast rise, fast fall”.
